BLACK TEA - Choc Chai Mint

A deep and decadent infusion where the sweetness of chocolate blends with the citrusy freshness of orange and the delicate cooling notes of mint. Spicy notes of ginger, cinnamon, and cardamom add depth and warmth, completing this balanced and comforting aromatic experience.

What does this infusion contain?

Black tea (28%), cinnamon pieces, cocoa bean pieces (11%), mint (10%), ginger, orange peel (7%), cardamom, sweet blackberry leaves, pink peppercorns, natural orange flavouring, natural mint flavouring.

Black tea is the most popular type of tea, even more popular than green tea. Almost three-quarters of the tea consumed worldwide is black tea.

Unlike green tea, black tea leaves are fully oxidized, giving the tea a dark colour and a more intense flavour, often with notes of caramel, dried fruit, or spices.

The antioxidants and other compounds found in black tea may provide health benefits similar to those associated with green tea, such as reducing inflammation, supporting heart health, and helping maintain healthy cholesterol and blood pressure levels.

Black tea has a fascinating history, closely connected to trade, culture, and tradition. Unlike green tea, which has been consumed in China for thousands of years, black tea emerged later and quickly became a favourite among European merchants due to its longer shelf life.

Legend has it that black tea was discovered in China during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644), when tea leaves were allowed to oxidize for longer than those used to produce green tea, resulting in a more intense flavour and darker colour.

Later, black tea became one of China's most important export products, being traded along the famous Tea Road to Europe and the Middle East.

In the 19th century, the British sought alternatives to Chinese tea and began cultivating tea in India, particularly in the Assam and Darjeeling regions. British plantations led to the development of famous black tea varieties such as Assam and Darjeeling, each with its own distinctive flavour profile.

Today, black tea is appreciated around the world and comes in numerous varieties, from Earl Grey, flavoured with bergamot, to Indian and Chinese teas with rich and complex flavour profiles.
