In the search for distinguished coffee, Colombia is an unmissable destination. Colombia’s quality reputation stems from hard work and excellent terrain. A unique topographical feature plays a crucial role in shaping the distinct characteristics of Colombian coffee: the three cordilleras of the Andes mountain range. Between and within these mountain chains, multiple microclimates emerge, creating exceptional conditions for producing high-quality coffee.
The state of Nariño is located in the southwestern part of Colombia, where the Andes Mountains run parallel to the Pacific Ocean.
This region is well known for its volcanic activity. Over the centuries, five volcanoes have enriched the soil, creating remarkably fertile land. These mountain ranges support smallholder farms at some of the highest altitudes in the world, allowing coffee beans to develop slowly over time.
The high altitudes of Nariño enable a gradual maturation process, with warm temperatures during the day and very cold temperatures at night.
Nariño’s coffee farmers have built a strong reputation for reliable quality. Only fully ripe cherries are carefully hand-picked and collected manually at the washing station.
