Finca El Cerro – A Legacy of Coffee
Finca El Cerro represents the heritage of five generations of coffee producers in El Salvador, with coffee cultivation being a family tradition for over 150 years. In 2016, they decided to process their own coffee, establishing a small ecological coffee mill where they manage their own wet milling. At Finca El Cerro, coffee is passion—a dedication passed down through generations, shaping every bean with care and expertise.
Finca El Cerro is located in the high-altitude eastern regions of El Salvador, within the renowned Apaneca-Ilamatepec coffee-growing area, surrounded by native forests that create an ideal microclimate for producing high-quality coffee.
The farm represents the heritage of five generations of Salvadoran coffee producers. A few years ago, owner Fernando Escobar took a bold step forward, deciding to process his own coffee, transforming Finca El Cerro into a vertically integrated production, milling, and exporting company.
All coffee is shade-grown, carefully nourished with essential nutrients to ensure optimal bean development. Harvesters are trained to hand-select only perfectly ripe cherries, guaranteeing that Finca El Cerro achieves its coffee’s full potential.
Fernando Escobar places great emphasis on supporting his team members, offering educational programs and medical assistance, reinforcing the farm’s dedication to sustainability and community well-being.
