The story of this family begins with two coffee-growing brothers, Asefa and Mulugeta Dukamo, originally from the Bensa–Sidama region. From an early age, the two brothers helped their parents and neighbors cultivate coffee and were determined to showcase the extraordinary potential of coffee from their country and their region. Today, after more than fifteen years of dedication, they have built a family-owned company that continues to play an essential role in coffee production, harvesting, and export from Sidama.
The Dukamo family currently manages three farms, forty-two washing stations, six drying facilities, and collaborates with more than 2,500 farmers who follow responsible agricultural practices, ensuring sustainability and full traceability. Our lots come from the Daye Bensa farm and the Shantawene washing station. Both are located in the heart of the Sidama coffee region, just ten kilometers from the town of Daye, surrounded by natural forests and indigenous trees that are more than two hundred years old.
The coffee plants grow under the shade of these ancient trees, at altitudes ranging between 2,100 and 2,210 meters above sea level. Farm operations are carried out mainly by local communities under the supervision of the Dukamo family members, who inherited the same passion for coffee cultivation and were prepared to continue the family’s legacy.
