Ethiopian coffee is more than a product; it is a living heritage that brings together the history, culture, and craftsmanship of communities that have cultivated this plant for centuries. In Ethiopia, coffee is not simply a beverage, but a ritual that begins with roasting the green beans, continues with hand-grinding, and ends with brewing in a jebena, the traditional clay coffee pot.
Yirgacheffe is an area located in southern Ethiopia, in the Gedeo region, and is considered a global benchmark for specialty Arabica coffee. High altitudes ranging from 1,700 to 2,200 meters, fertile soils, and cool microclimates create ideal conditions for the slow maturation of the coffee cherries. Yirgacheffe coffee is recognized worldwide as one of the finest expressions of Ethiopian Arabica, appreciated for its floral and citrus aromas and for the elegance it brings to every cup.
Arforsa is the name of a washing station or a community of smallholder producers in the Yirgacheffe area, where farmers cultivate Heirloom varieties — traditional local cultivars that contribute to the distinctive aromatic complexity of Ethiopian coffee.
The exceptional quality of this origin is due not only to its altitude and fertile soils, but also to its traditional processing methods. Both washed and natural coffees are highly sought after, with each method highlighting the complexity of the beans in a different way. Washed processing emphasizes freshness and flavor clarity, while natural processing brings out fruity sweetness and distinctive depth.
This coffee is the result of the work of hundreds of smallholder farmers who follow traditional cultivation practices with minimal intervention, helping preserve both biodiversity and soil quality.
