Profile: Notes of dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and caramel, with nuances of ripe tropical fruits
Rwanda Ngoma Natural is a coffee that impresses with its layered sweetness, intense fruity character, and elegantly balanced acidity. Sourced from the Ngoma washing station, located in the forested and hilly area of Kavumu, this Bourbon lot is naturally processed, giving it notes of ripe fruit and wine-like complexity. Every stage, from the careful selection of cherries to the slow drying on raised beds, is carried out with meticulous attention, resulting in a deep and clean aromatic profile.
The Ngoma station works with smallholder farmers who cultivate an average of 200 coffee trees, and sustainability is an essential part of their operations. The pulp produced during processing is transformed into organic fertilizer, while farmers receive training and support to improve their agricultural practices. The drying process, inspired by culinary techniques, is carried out slowly and under controlled conditions to intensify the flavors and extend the coffee’s shelf life. The cherries are turned regularly, protected from rain and strong sunlight, and defects are manually removed throughout the drying process.
RWACOF and its partners contribute to the development of local communities through training programs, improved soil health, access to agricultural inputs, nurseries producing millions of seedlings, and initiatives focused on gender equality. Investments in solar energy, responsible waste management, and carbon emission reduction further strengthen their commitment to a sustainable supply chain.
Rwanda is now a benchmark in the world of specialty coffee, and Ngoma Natural perfectly reflects the renaissance of the local coffee industry. Cultivated by smallholder farmers and processed with exceptional care, this coffee offers a vibrant, complex, and memorable aromatic experience, proudly representing Rwanda’s unique terroir.
