Founded by German colonists around 1900, taken over by the British administration after World War II, and purchased by Mr. B.N. Vohora in 1969, Edelweiss Estate is now run by a third-generation family coffee business. Located on the edge of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and surrounded by indigenous forests, the estate ranges from 1,650 to 1,820 meters above sea level. The natural forest canopy provides shade for the coffee trees.

Because the farm is situated in a very remote region of northern Tanzania, the Vohora family actively engages with the surrounding community. They run various sustainability projects to support locals and protect the natural environment. They offer apprenticeships on the farm, support local schools, and have established nurseries for the children of their employees. The farm shares a green border with the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, resulting in elephants and buffaloes regularly traversing the coffee plantation and interacting with the delicate trees.

Edelweiss Estate rests on the slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater, the world's largest unbroken caldera, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a sanctuary for diverse wildlife, including elephants, rhinoceroses, lions, and numerous antelopes. Managed by the same family for three generations, the combination of exceptional terroir, climate, and sound agricultural practices enables the farms to consistently produce sustainable, high-quality coffee. Edelweiss provides stable, long-term employment for more than 500 community members, all living in harmony with the abundant wildlife found on the estate.
