Description

Processing: Natural

Flavor Profile: slightly fruity with notes of dark chocolate. Creamy body

Uganda, often referred to as the birthplace of Robusta coffee, boasts a thriving coffee industry. Robusta coffee is known for its smooth and neutral flavor, with a touch of sweetness. These beans are ideal for espresso preparation due to their high crema-producing properties. Robusta coffee thrives in various regions of Uganda and is grown in different varieties. This coffee requires specific soil conditions and land quality. Optimal temperature conditions are essential for cultivating Robusta coffee.

What are the differences between Robusta and Arabica?

TASTE

Arabica coffee beans are considered superior in terms of taste. They have a smoother and sweeter flavor, with notes of chocolate and sugar. They can also have fruity notes.

Robusta has a stronger, harsher, and more bitter taste, with grainy or rubbery nuances.

Caffeine Level:

Arabica coffee beans contain less caffeine than Robusta, while the latter has approximately twice as much caffeine as Arabica.

Use:

Robusta is more commonly preferred for adding to different blends, helping to balance the bitterness of the coffee.

Resistance:

Robusta is less demanding when it comes to climatic conditions and more resistant to diseases that can affect coffee trees. This is probably also the reason why Robusta accounts for only 40% of global coffee production. The remaining 60% comes from Arabica coffee growers.
