Description

Cocoa powder is obtained by grinding cocoa beans and removing the fat, or cocoa butter. The solid component remaining after this process is finely milled, creating a basic ingredient used in many delicious recipes.
The cocoa beans used to produce this cocoa powder are organically grown in the Dominican Republic, Cordillera Septentrional region.
Origin
Located among the magnificent mountains and valleys of the Cordillera Septentrional, the first cocoa-producing conservation reserve in the Dominican Republic can be found. The farms operate in perfect harmony with a protected habitat of more than 1,000 acres, producing some of the finest cocoa in the region.
Our local partner, Cacao del Bosque, works with cocoa farmers to implement organic farming principles and supports ongoing conservation efforts for the Bicknell’s Thrush and other endemic bird species. Through continuous education on best agricultural practices, they improve production, provide economic support to the local community, and strengthen the biodiversity of this valuable ecosystem.
Ingredients: 100% cocoa beans from the Dominican Republic, Cordillera Septentrional.
Fat Content: 10–12% (no chemical treatments; no additives)
Natural cocoa powder is distinguished by its intense color and powerful flavor, with a slightly bitter yet highly aromatic character. Unlike alkalized cocoa powder, natural cocoa has a higher acidity level, making it ideal for recipes such as cakes, beverages, and desserts that require interaction with baking soda for better rising. It is valued for its authentic flavor and health benefits, being naturally rich in valuable antioxidants such as flavonoids.
Cocoa powder is appreciated not only for its intense aroma and flavor but also for its impressive nutritional profile. Especially when natural and unsweetened, cocoa powder provides a concentrated source of essential nutrients.
