Description
These cocoa farms are located in the municipalities of Vista Hermosa and San Juan de Arama, in Colombia's Meta Department.
Named Zocay after the native Zocay monkey, this region—inhabited primarily by families who migrated from other parts of Colombia—has a history shaped by conflict and the cultivation of illicit coca crops. In recent years, however, these communities have chosen a different path, drawing on their deep-rooted knowledge of cocoa cultivation to transform their homeland into a thriving center for fine cocoa production. Today, the region has become a symbol of resilience, sustainability, and high-quality cocoa farming.
OKANTA purchases freshly harvested wet cocoa beans directly from these farmers, allowing full control over the post-harvest process while maintaining the highest quality standards. This approach not only simplifies harvesting for growers—saving time and labor—but also reduces transportation and logistical costs, creating a more sustainable and efficient supply chain that benefits both farmers and producers.
