Description
Cocoa beans are fermented and dried, unroasted.
About the farm
The farms are located in the municipalities of Vista Hermosa and San Juan de Arama, in the Meta department of Colombia.
Named Zocay after the indigenous Zocay monkey, this area, mainly inhabited by migrants from other Colombian regions, has a history marked by violence and illegal coca cultivation. However, these communities have chosen to create a new path, relying on their deep-rooted knowledge of cocoa cultivation to transform their homeland. Today, it is a haven for cocoa cultivation.
OKANTA purchases wet cocoa directly from these farmers, ensuring oversight of the post-harvest process and maintaining the highest quality standards. This method not only simplifies the harvesting process for farmers, saving them time and labor, but also reduces logistical and transportation costs, providing a more sustainable and efficient solution.
